Rediscovering the Power of the Holy Spirit
We often hear about God the Father and Jesus the Son, but how well do we truly know the Holy Spirit? This powerful teaching takes us back to the foundations of our faith, reminding us that the Holy Spirit is not an optional accessory to our Christian walk, but an absolute necessity for experiencing the fullness of God's power. Drawing from John chapters 14 through 16, we discover Jesus' final conversations with His disciples where He repeatedly emphasizes the coming Helper, the Comforter, the Spirit of Truth. What's striking is Jesus' own declaration that it was better for Him to leave so the Holy Spirit could come. Think about the magnitude of that statement. If Jesus Himself said we needed the Holy Spirit that desperately, how can we afford to ignore or minimize this third person of the Trinity? We learn that the Holy Spirit is not weird or scary, despite what religious traditions might have taught us. He's our divine Helper who comes alongside us, teaching us all things, guiding us into truth, and empowering us to do the greater works Jesus promised. Without Him, we might have knowledge about God, but we'll lack the power to see that knowledge manifest in miraculous ways. The early church turned their world upside down not through human effort alone, but through the power of the Holy Spirit working in and through them. The same power is available to us today.
